Over the past week we have been studying sight and light.
First, we looked at eye structure. I learnt that there are many different parts inside the eye that control the way we see. I also learnt all the different name for the different parts of the eye.
We looked at diffraction and refraction. I found out that diffraction means to force light through little slits to create a rainbow out the other side. And that refraction means to bend light.
I also learnt that the three primary light colours are green blue and red. And if you mix all colours you will get white light. You can also get the colour cyan from mixing green and blue, and magenta when you mix red and blue.
We also looked at glasses or spectacles and how they effect the way we see. I learnt that they help us see better in many different ways, like reading small text and helping us focus on things better.
I also found out that the most common eye disease in New Zealand is Related Macular Degeneration Disease. Which causes blind spots in your vision.
Finally, we looked at colour blindness. I am not colour blind my self but I know that the most common type affects the way you see green and red. Overall I really enjoyed the research we did and found it really interesting.
